Lost Dog
The front door blew open today because of the wind and Raven has gotten out and she hasn't come back. We think maybe a neighbor picked her up, but so far no luck. We are posting signs in the neighborhood...but for right now, she's gone. Very sad.

A little rant
It seems these days on chatrooms on sites such as Baby Center and these calling cards I get from the neighbors here in Dallas, it is a trend for moms to call themselves, Tabitha, mommy of Madison or even, "wife to Gregory". I guess I'm getting on my high horse here (it's my blog!), but I think this is the 00's version of Mrs. Randolph Everson. I'm my own person...a mom, but also an individual. Would my husband have a calling card saying, "darling husband (DH in the web world) to Shelbitha"?
Maybe I need a calling card, although I'm not as put together as a calling card would suggest, and have it say, "Shelby Eidson, not only mommy to Stephen, but proud feminist, lawyer, and working mom" I finally need to stop reading those chat rooms.

My Dancing Partner
I like to dance with Stephen to Itunes music sometimes. This is to a Lullaby by Billy Joel.

THANK YOU AMY!
Stephen wishes to thank Mommy's friend Amy who knitted him a sweater and a matching hat for him. Unfortunately, Stephen's head doesn't fit through the sweater (He takes after his Dad), but he thinks that Mommy and her Mother-in-law can install some snaps for him to wear the sweater.

Rolling Over Video
I figured out how to edit the video that I made with my camera (I'm even impressed by the quality given the fact that it is a camera video) and even add a song to it. This is mighty cool. I might have to do this more often.

The Right Way to Swaddle - Well - Tara Parker-Pope - Health - New York Times Blog
The Right Way to Swaddle - Well - Tara Parker-Pope - Health - New York Times Blog
The preliminary results are in...Stephen likes cereal. In fact, I think he just said, "Thank you Mommy." He slept 10 hours last night and was a very happy baby last night and this morning. I also just swaddled him in a swaddle-me blanket that my cousin Patti let me borrow, but I haven't used before. (We've just used regular blankets for this purpose) In the swaddle and about 5 minutes at the breast and he was totally asleep. Yaay, swaddle. We've also raised the head of his crib mattress a little with a pillow underneath it. I think with a combination of techniques, Stephen will be consistently a happier baby.
This article says that swaddling the wrong way can lead to hip displasia...well, I know for me, that was not the case :)

More Pictures from this weekend
Here's more pictures from this weekend. We went by the house project, where they were staining cabinets, and it looks great.
Stephen watches Aunt Kaitlyn play soccer
This weekend, Sean's mom, sister, and Grandma came up to Dallas to watch Kaitlyn play soccer in a high school tournament out in Grapevine. Stephen went to one of the games. He fussed through about half of it, but got to see her play. He's growing. This afternoon, I took him to the pediatrician's office and he is 10 pounds, 10 ounces. He's still very gassy and now spits up a lot, but we might try rice cereal mixed in with his breast milk at the pediatrician's suggestion. He seems to have some acid reflux and the cereal should help with this. After much frustration at nursing for both of us, he's getting most of his nutrition through breast milk through a bottle. We're making nursing a positive experience, and much to my liking and comfort, he likes to nurse to sleep and cuddle with me. The good thing is that he is gaining weight and is a normal, beautiful baby.

Back to Work
Last week I went back to work on Thursday and Friday. This week it is my first complete week. It is going really well, in fact I even got a pretty good size raise! On the Stephen front, he slept through the night last night from 8:15 or abouts to 6:45am! More pictures to come soon.

Video
We set up the web cam that Uncle David bought for Stephen for Christmas. This is really just a test video, but we hope to bring you more in the future...

Since I don't yet have some pictures of my own to share right now, I've added a link to my Mom's Christmas Pictures of Stephen to share
