It seems these days on chatrooms on sites such as Baby Center and these calling cards I get from the neighbors here in Dallas, it is a trend for moms to call themselves, Tabitha, mommy of Madison or even, "wife to Gregory". I guess I'm getting on my high horse here (it's my blog!), but I think this is the 00's version of Mrs. Randolph Everson. I'm my own person...a mom, but also an individual. Would my husband have a calling card saying, "darling husband (DH in the web world) to Shelbitha"?
Maybe I need a calling card, although I'm not as put together as a calling card would suggest, and have it say, "Shelby Eidson, not only mommy to Stephen, but proud feminist, lawyer, and working mom" I finally need to stop reading those chat rooms.

You go, independent, self-reliant daughter of mine. I'm with you all the way on this issue. Now I know what to get you for your birthday--calling cards, but you write the text. I'm amazed that you have time for chat rooms:) Love, Martha K. Smith, piano teacher, peripatetic volunteer, mom, grandmom, golf wife, reader, writer, and traveler.
