You've heard this before: I think my kid is the smartest and greatest

We went to the University Park pool for the first time on Monday. They have a fantastic baby pool that is partially shaded and then also has a part where you can gradually go in. Stephen was almost the youngest one there, but my goodness he had fun for about an hour and liked the water more than kids a year older...I guess everyone thinks their kids are the greatest. :)

Proof Kids will eat ANYTHING

Here's Stephen eating prunes, peaches, and Cheerios for breakfast this morning. He ended up eating a whole prune (cut up). I thought it might be good for his digestion. This is also his face that he makes while eating.

Temper

I think our little boy is growing up. He's learning so many things right now, like crawling, sitting, pulling up, eating, swallowing, gravity, and temper. He gets upset as you take away the remote we've given him or the bottle (no, not his own bottle, but any other bottle but his own). Right now it works to distract him with something else, but I can see days coming when that doesn't work. Again, we all are discovering the differences between his wants and needs. The good thing is that he is also discovering the joys of everyday objects like remotes, empty 2 liter bottles, keys, boxes, books, and plastic kitchen toys, so that it is easy to keep him entertained for a while.

Mommy, I like Chocolate

At the end of a long day furniture shopping, we stopped into Wild About Harry, a local soft serve ice cream place. We let Stephen try some of my chocolate ice cream. It looks like he likes it. :)

8 Months

Update on Stephen: he's now sleeping through the night more often (thank goodness!, although we are working on his wake up time), crawling, eating more and more, eating more solids (although sometimes gagging on them) and generally happy in his new home now that we are settled more. He loves the dogs; he loves to watch them play, eat, and pretty much do anything. They accept that he loves to touch their paws, their heads, and are really good with him. His favorite book is now Moo Baa, especially when I make the cow and the sheep noises.

Sean and I yesterday saw the documentary, Resolved, which aired on HBO, about high school debate. It was really good and is highly recommended.

Hickey

I found this morning that Stephen has given me a small hickey on my shoulder. I think the two upper teeth might be coming in. He doesn't take a pacifier or really his thumb or fingers any more, but apparently he likes my shoulder to suck on.

Documenting Milestones

Stephen is getting really good at sitting unassisted these days, with the occasional falling over. He also army crawls (or combat crawling as I've heard described) He's also trying to regular crawl on his hands and knees. He has two teeth fully in on the bottom as well. He's really growing up.

Fabulous at 30

My Mom and Dad babysat for Stephen this Friday night while Sean and I went out to dinner for my 30th birthday. We are in our new townhouse and are busy as bees in unpacking. Mom and Dad were a big help in getting stuff done. We now have DSL internet so there will be more posts soon.
